EDUCATION

Charlie currently teaches at Hockerill College in Hertfordshire where he also directs the Jazz Orchestra. He has been a guest director for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra and runs big band and jazz ensemble workshops in schools. He works for summer schools and has co-led workshops with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and at the Royal Albert Hall. He also produced and presented the first ever Cheltenham Jazz Festival Concert for Schools in 2017.

During lockdown, Charlie was asked by the Royal Albert Hall to broadcast a 30 minute 'Jazz for Kids' programme as part of the Royal Albert Home series. He performed some jazz standards and original compositions inspired by artwork by Jessica Efezeybek (@jessicazhouartist).

Charlie also does one-off day visits to schools nationwide and gives specialist coaching to their big bands and jazz ensembles. He will put together a team of musicians who will play in the sections and help the students deliver a great concert to finish the day. There are some photos of a recent visit to Bloxham School below.
